He was born January 22, 1951 in Kiev. The initial art education Yuri got in the Shevchenko Republican Art School, where he studied from 1963 till 1970. Higher art education he got at the Kiev Art Institute (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture), from which he graduated in 1976. He studied at the graphic department, in the studio of easel graphics, teachers I.M.Selivanova, K.D.Trohimenko, L.I.Chichkan. He works in the field of easel paintings and graphic art. In 1982 he joined the USSR Union of Artists.
Exhibitions: "Youth of the Nation" (Republican), Kiev,1976, "Youth of the Nation"(All-Union), Moscow, 1976, "The exhibition diplomas" (All-Union), Vilnius, 1977, "VII Exhibition of Prints" (Republican), 1981, Summary exhibition "Donbass Industrial" (Republican), 1980, "1500 Anniversary of Kiev" (City), 1982. He participated in many All-Russian Art Exhibition. Major works: A series of "Kyiv metro builders ", a series of "Portraits of the Donbass," a series "Heroic Arsenal", a series of "Country Life", a triptych "1934." Since the 90s of last century he works in oil painting. He created a series of Kiev, Crimea, Chernigov landscapes. The works of Yuri Kutilov stored in the National Museum of Fine Arts of Ukraine and private collections around the world, in particular Canada, the United States, France and Finland.
